Dave Knien

One of the Northwest's finest callers, Dave Knien has called for the Woodinville Toe Stompers for over 25 years. At times in the club's past, he's been the cuer, too. His continuing contribution to the Toes includes teaching both Mainstream and Plus lessons for the Toes every year. In his spare time, he's the caller for the Bucks and Does and the Whidbey Whirlers, and he has called at a lot of special dances in Western Washington, such as Bogberry Bash, Winthrop, Circle 8, and the Toe Stompers Skagit Dam Dance.

Dave has a strong, pleasant voice and a sly sense of humor. He can call from Basic to C1, with choreography ranging from very easy to very challenging. While he's great at calling DBD (dancing by definition), Dave always keeps on eye on the level of the hall and is willing to walk dancers through tricky moves. No matter what he calls, it's always fun.

Not only is Dave a fantastic caller and teacher, he and wife Katie are a delightful couple to square dance with. Katie is a charming person and is probably the main reason for his success. Come out some night and meet them, and we're sure that you'll agree that the Toe Stompers are lucky to have Dave and Katie at our dances.
